Alexa Miars is a 3D Artist specializing in Look Development and Lighting with a BFA in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design. In her works, Alexa combines whimsical concepts with the beautiful details of reality. In her spare time, Alexa enjoys spontaneous research sessions, learning new skills, creating stories, and watching good films with friends and family. She is also a Jesus-follower, and her faith drives her to use her work for good.

- Created graphics that communicated clearly while maintaining an inviting stylization for a diverse audience of over 7,000 individuals.
- Collaborated with other creatives to create a visual design language that was used as the core of videos, social media content, and graphics for a sermon series.
- Completed miscellaneous tasks to aid the creative team, such as gathering references, researching intended audiences, and organizing supplies.

- Developed a system of researching, concepting, interacting with clients, and presenting polished final pitches that ensured the clients received a positive experience and a final product that excited them.
PROJECTS
Look Development Lead, Lighting and Compositing Co-Lead // Stone Lions Don’t Roar Short Film
June 2025 - June 2026
- Lead a team of Look Development and Lighting Artists to texture 100+ assets and light 144 shots through compiling references, providing live demos, offering one-on-one instruction, and completing paintovers.
- Created master lighting rigs for 4 sequences; lit and composited over 50 shots in 7 weeks.
- Developed a workflow for lighting in Houdini Arnold and compositing in Nuke.
- Assembled scene files according to a USD pipeline and worked closely with other departments to troubleshoot rendering.
- Defined the visual style of the film through look development tests utilizing Substance Painter, Maya, and Houdini Arnold.
- Created hand-painted textures that support a PBR workflow for 3 hero characters, 4 hero props, and 80+ environment assets.

- Lead a team of technical artists through paint overs, critiques, tutorials, and other miscellaneous methods of support.
- Modeled, UVed, and textured a cathedral interior according to provided concepts.
- Created lighting rigs to be used as the base lighting for each sequence of the film and lit assigned shots.

- Lit shots according to a provided color script, taking special care to emphasize focal points and define the tone of each scene.
